As Easy as Pie

I've noticed a trend of more simple country themes for parties recently.

Here is my inspiration -

Valentines is not just for lovers.....

February 14th known in Mexico as El Día del Amor y la Amistad, the "day of love and friendship." People commonly give flowers , candies and balloons to their romantic partners, but it's also a day to show appreciation for friends.

Everyone can take part in Mexican Valentine's Day celebrations and show love to the people they care about.
This way, there's no reason to feel left out if you don't have a significant other.

Buy some flowers, write a poem or make a gift for one of your friends - let them know you care!

Sweet! Just in time for Valentines -

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending the Santa Barbara Event Professional (SBEP) monthly mixer hosted by Nico Designs and LBPS Events. Great food provided by Michael Hutchins Catering, Valentine themed decor and signature cocktails (electric lemonade or love punch)
and a room full of talented peers were all ingredients for a good time.

What I thought was the greatest thing at the party (and keeping with the Valentine theme is Joy Proctor's new endeavor, Love is Sweet.

Whether a candy bar or candy servers, this is one sweet, chic and genius experience for all your guests. It will definitely be the talk of the party for years to come.

Last Minute Superbowl Party Idea

Although I am disappointed the Cowboys did not qualify, I will be a good hostess and enjoy the game. Superbowl is probably the easiest party to throw together. You're mostly dealing with male attendees whose expectations are basic: a good game, beer, snacks, beer, a good game and some beer along with a good game. The commercials will keep the everyone entertained (although I read they are not as great for today's game). Here is the breakdown:

1- Theme, you're set - Football!
2- Entertainment needs - a TV with good picture and sound.
3- beverages - beer (margaritas are good for the +1 ladies in the room). Sodas and water for minors - just be sure you have plenty of ice to keep beer ice cold.
4- menu - snacks. Here are some of my favourite easy prep foods:
  • queso = 1 package Velveeta cheese cut up into cubes and placed in a crock pot. Add 1 can of Rotel. Put on low 1 hour before guests arrive, and pronto - you're good to go. Serve with chips (and have salsa available as well, 2 dishes in one).
*You can add canned chili in and sub Frito chips for tortilla to make good old Texas "Frito Pie"
  • gourmet queso = 1 container (Trader Joe's) Gorgonzola cheese crumbles. Add 1/4 cup heavy cream. Nuke for 1 min at a time, stirring until crumbles are all melted and velvety consistency. Serve with toasted french bread slices.
  • Veggie crudite = Bite size carrots, celery, radishes, jicama, cherry tomatoes with bleu cheese dressing and/or ranch on the side for dipping.
  • Chips, pretzels and dips
  • Easy onion dip = 1 package Lipton's onion soup mix. 1 container sour cream, juice of 1/2 lemon, stir together and let sit for about 1 hour. Great with chips, pretzels and veggies.
  • Hot dogs = either grilled or boiled, easy like 1-2-3.

Have plenty of disposable (recycle friendly) plates, napkins and glassware for easy clean up.

The last ingredient is for a good game. This you have no control over, but in either case - Geaux Saints!!!
