Carving those pumpkins and putting them on the front porch is a traditional decoration for fall, but did you know that there are many other ways to incorporate pumpkins into creative decorating ideas? We love the idea of using pumpkins in unusual ways to create a fabulous fall theme for any event. Whether the event is a halloween inspired office party or an extravagant fall wedding, pumpkins can be the perfect way to incorporate the season into your decorations. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

As we transition into the fall season, many designers have designed amazing bridal collections that are sure to inspire many brides. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A popular skirt silhouette was the trumpet shape. Vera Wang's Fall 2010 bridal collection showed off this silhouette perfectly! Monique Lhuillier debuted an intricately designed trumpet dress this fall. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4154/4974615923_2c2ac44ea6.jpg" width="316" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4086/4975228926_4da8681d3a.jpg" width="320" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4091/4975228486_75bc795446.jpg" width="312" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Soft fabrics like organza and tulle mixed with lace give off a romantic vibe. Romance is a beautiful fall style trend! Rivini and Vera Wang both created beautiful lace designs on his gowns this fall. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4147/4974616219_ce808c7a82.jpg" width="319" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4084/4975228592_984b2bd91c.jpg" width="319" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Full skirts and ball gown dresses are in huge demand this fall. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Oscar de la Renta and Vera Wang showcased full skirts in their collections this fall. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4145/4974615853_1e7be16c28.jpg" width="315" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4148/4975228642_02aecae35d.jpg" width="314" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">And of course, a sweet blush colored shoe that will compliment any of these dresses.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4103/4974615577_bb5bf1c4a5.jpg" width="395" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div>Events of Santa Barbara Inc.http://www.blogger.com/profile/15128046494596319644noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3453424601734634119.post-1710642198199163682010-09-07T17:21:00.000-07:002010-09-07T17:21:01.911-07:00Drama Drama DramaFor the bride that is looking for drama and romance in a wedding dress, finding a dress with a train is essential. The extra length of fabric sweeping down the aisle behind the bride adds the element of mystery as it ripples over the flower petals scattered on the floor. There are five different types of trains to satisfy those who want the ultra-glam, dramatic train and those who want a scaled back but elegant train.<br />
<br />
A sweeping train (also known as the brush train) is the shortest train and barely sweeps the floor. It is perfect for the bride who does not want the hassle of too much added fabric and craves a more semi-formal wedding gown. The dress below sold on <a href="http://www.eidress.com/">eidress</a> features the sweeping train on a beautiful chiffon gown.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/4968762973_6b683873a3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4089/4968762973_6b683873a3.jpg" width="305" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/4969371424_876ff253e5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4149/4969371424_876ff253e5.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><br />
<br />
The Chapel Length Train is the most common train because it has the elegance of a full train but is still not overly cumbersome. A chapel train is generally 1 1/3 yards or 4 feet from the waistline. It is the most common train because it exudes the same elegance as a full train but is not as cumbersome to wear, especially when breaking it down on the dance floor. This gorgeous a-line dress found on <a href="http://www.eshopwedding.com/">Eshop Wedding</a> displays the chapel length train.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/4969400634_3db87e0486.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4107/4969400634_3db87e0486.jpg" width="292" /></a><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/4968791513_8455678374.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4133/4968791513_8455678374.jpg" width="293" /></a></div><br />
<br />
<br />
The Semi-Cathedral Length Train is about half way between a chapel and cathedral length. <a href="http://www.enzoani.com/">Enzoani</a> creates a beautiful sweetheart ruched bodice dress with lace and beaded empire waist with a semi-cathedral length train.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/4969435796_c954a3379d.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4113/4969435796_c954a3379d.jpg" width="443" /></a></div><br />
The Cathedral Length Train is the traditional princess, fairytale kind of train. It is generally 2 1/2 yards or 7 1/2 feet from the waistline and is viewed as a very formal or dramatic dress. These gowns often come with a bustling option or a removable train so that the bride can move around during the reception easier. This stunning gown by Sophia Tolli exudes drama with its cathedral length train.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/4969462232_6062c0009e.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4087/4969462232_6062c0009e.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><br />
The Royal Train (also known as the Monarch Train) generally falls 9 ft from the waist line and is only used for black tie weddings. It is the most formal but incredibly breathtaking. Found on <a href="http://i-weddingdresses.com/">I-wedding Dresses</a>, this gorgeous dress enhances the voluminous royal train with lace at the hem for a feminine touch.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/4969519698_10628274f2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="596" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4127/4969519698_10628274f2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
For the bride who desires the drama of a full royal train but not the hassle of wearing so much fabric, a great alternative would be to use a long veil as shown by Princess Mette Marit of Norway on her special day.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/4969519612_a6ea5f2da5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4152/4969519612_a6ea5f2da5.jpg" width="580" /></a></div><br />
A veil also adds for an interesting and beautiful prop in pictures, as this picture from <a href="http://www.i-do.com.au/">I-Do</a> demonstrates.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/4968892193_a7fbce4124.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="344" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4083/4968892193_a7fbce4124.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4150/4969502400_c94f8e0f93.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />

Wedding photographs will be taken all day and your makeup needs to last through it all-- especially those teary-eyed vows and endless kisses from your loved ones. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4117/4930393040_30ddedb5b0.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here are a few tips to make your wedding makeup last for any special occasion. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Steer away from foundations containing SPF. Ingredients contained in SPF reflect light, which leave a white cast in wedding photos. Look for a long-wearing, photo-ready foundation that matches your skin perfectly. To find the perfect match, blend the foundation into your jaw line and make sure it completely disappears to avoid that dreaded "foundation line". I would reccommend Make Up Forever's HD foundation, which blurs all imperfections and withstands bright flash photography. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4139/4929786967_5ff8b3a31d.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Primer can make a world of difference on your wedding day. Primer acts as a base that fills in pores, takes away shine and preps the face for makeup. A good makeup primer will make your makeup last much longer and is a great addition for brides with oily skin. Smashbox makes a great primer that is velvety smooth and increases the longevity of any foundation you put on. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4929787045_5ba021417c.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Long wear lipstick is an absolute must for wedding makeup! For a hint of color, a lip stain is also a great option because it literally stains your lips.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4100/4930376200_e94144393e.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Waterproof mascara is also another necessity for wedding makeup. The last thing a beautiful bride needs is raccoon eyes after those teary moments. I would recommend Make Up Forever's Aqua Smoky Lash for a great mascara that delivers length, volume and intense pigment.</span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4095/4930376130_a224cfbe26.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">A makeup consultation can definitely help the process of finding your perfect wedding makeup look. Schedule a consultation with your favorite makeup brand or artist a few weeks before the big day to find what colors and formulas suit you. </span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Here are a few wedding makeup looks that are absolutely stunning for any bride. </span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4141/4930376364_3231a8c7b7.jpg" /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4094/4929787219_64f475ae8a.jpg" /></span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Luna Bella Makeup Art </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img ="" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4095/4930376646_af24536471.jpg" /></span></div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

We think, however, that it is time to push the boundaries and challenge the traditional ideologies about aisles to achieve a beautiful, creative aisle for our brides to walk on. Our last wedding at Elings Park for Elizabeth and Mike incorporated our fun, new ideas. We arranged the yellow rose petals in a stunning design that was simply breathtaking.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/4927500092_2ae6e1d3d8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/4927500092_2ae6e1d3d8.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Adding more colors gives this modern aisle an extra punch for the couple that wants to truly wow their wedding guests. <a href="http://breezinentertainment.typepad.com/breezin_entertainment_blo/2009/11/index.html">Breezin Entertainment</a> displays an aisle way that combines a juicy maroon and a spicy orange that swirls together into a deliciously beautiful aisle.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"> <a href="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/4927532948_7bdcde15e6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4114/4927532948_7bdcde15e6.jpg" width="480" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"></div><br />
Some couples add a little detail in their aisle way that personalizes their flower creations. Using the petals to create a cute monogram, as <a href="http://nantucketweddingsunveiled.com/blog">Nantucket Weddings Unveiled</a> demonstrated, is a great way to make an aisle way completely yours and 100% adorable.<br />

The traditional white wedding cake is a thing of the past due to a variety of different television cake shows that seem to be taking over many of our favorite channels. These shows give innovative ideas on how to style your wedding cake in a way that is unique to you. Now more then ever the wedding cake has become a reflection of the bride and groom's personality. It is a focal point of many receptions and is now one of the main ingredients that make a wedding memorable. We have seen many different styles of weddings cakes, anywhere from different shaped tears to a mountain of cupcakes. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Here are a few cakes that gave their weddings a little something extra!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: black; font-family: Times, Helvetica, sans-serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: medium; white-space: normal;"><br />

Everywhere you look, grocery stores and farmer's markets are overflowing with apricots, nectarines, peaches, honeydew melons, watermelons, strawberries, blackberries, raspberries, cranberries, cherries, mangoes, papayas, oranges, lemons, limes, coconuts, pineapple, plums, figs, and any other fruits you can think of! The question remains: is it a coincidence that summertime also happens to be the most popular time for weddings? I think not!<br />
<br />
There are TONS of unique and fun ways to incorporate fruit into your wedding. One popular way to do this is to use fruit as a center piece. You can either fill a vase with whole, fresh fruits (like the following picture) or you could place sliced fruits into a vase with water and throw a few flowers in there. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img height="423" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4123/4899238817_ff6916006c.jpg" width="640" /></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Photo by </span><a href="http://www.ivy-weddings.com/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Ivy Weddings</span></a><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">, found on </span><a href="http://www.stylemepretty.com/2010/08/12/texas-wedding-by-ivy-weddings/"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Style Me Pretty</span></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
Another idea is to use fruits as escort cards! Simply create a<br />
little tag with your guest's name on it and use a pin to secure it to your fruit of choice.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">Some people like to have fruit lying around to create the mood. In this fiesta-style wedding,</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">sliced papayas and tons of different citrus fruits added a little pizzaz to the buffet table.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4140/4886302709_7bcd6ac19d.jpg" width="426" /></span></div></span><br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">"Trash the dress" is a type of wedding photography that focuses on the elegance of a bride's wedding dress but adds a </span><i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">very</span></i><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"> different twist. </span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="421" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4120/4886259105_d9105557d5.jpg" width="640" /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">There is no doubt that your wedding dress will be one of the most important (and expensive) dress purchases in your life. Many brides would be horrified to ruin their dresses but a few daring women decide to make a dramatic statement once their wedding is finalized. </span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Many of the "trash the dress" photo shoots I have seen are shot by the beach. The bride's white dress against the coarse sand and deep blue ocean makes for a stunning photo. </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="392" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4119/4886285323_27b1384f66.jpg" width="640" /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Some brides choose an unconventional location to trash their dress-- gas stations, graffiti walls, a field of flowers... the possibilities are endless! </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="463" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4073/4886259667_14aedc78eb.jpg" width="640" /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">I love the relaxed feel of these photo shoots. The bride and groom no longer have the stress of making sure their wedding is going smoothly. </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4098/4886259287_3675741882.jpg" width="437" /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />
</span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Will you take the plunge and trash your dress? </span></div></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><img height="469" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4076/4886902146_e71312d78d.jpg" width="640" /></span></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

For the brides who want a wedding that's effortlessly modern but still elegant, this subtle change helps her stand out from the crowd. This is a great way for the bridesmaids to become more involved in the wedding and adds a fun challenge of finding their own dresses. To keep some form of unity, many brides opt for the same color but different styles of dresses. I'm absolutely in love with this picture of a collection of beige dresses that I found on the <a href="http://bespokepress.blogspot.com/2009/05/featured-wedding-ilana-and-benjamin.html">Bespoke Letterpress blog</a> shot by <a href="http://www.sugarloveweddings.com/">SugarLove Weddings</a>.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDbBHFjwW-AiPWp1moJm-7H_a6qOHV7izspKrmJwah7BqDqgyms1OWoZ7xHfazzOOhOpnjKCHiNI2Sv0yvRinBt07aEy8M9hoGoY81COZCD6faW1VM410qvFtVXdo1uF3wjJel8RfSfynA/s1600/ilana2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDbBHFjwW-AiPWp1moJm-7H_a6qOHV7izspKrmJwah7BqDqgyms1OWoZ7xHfazzOOhOpnjKCHiNI2Sv0yvRinBt07aEy8M9hoGoY81COZCD6faW1VM410qvFtVXdo1uF3wjJel8RfSfynA/s640/ilana2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><br />
If you want to go one step further, experiment with a color palette of dresses rather than just one color. This photo shot by <a href="http://www.tpellowe.com/">Todd Pellowe</a> in the <a href="http://www.greatexpectationsky.com/">Great Expecations blog </a>uses muted purple, chocolate brown, and earthy beige to achieve a seamless unified theme with different colors. <br />

Although each wedding has been unique in its own way, we have seen a common trend in the gowns the brides have chosen. Simple, elegant, strapless dresses have been the "it" dress style of the wedding season. Here are a few recent celebrity wedding dresses we think are particularly fabulous. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br />

</div><div style="text-align: center;">The traditional notion is that the First Look should occur as the bride descends the aisle.</div><div style="text-align: center;">Rumor has it that this tradition came from the days of arranged marriages. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Since these marriages were based more on the financial union of two families than </div><div style="text-align: center;">they were on the union of two people in love, the parents would do anything they could</div><div style="text-align: center;">to prevent the bride and groom from seeing each other until their wedding ceremony.</div><div style="text-align: center;">That way, in case the bride and groom found each other unattractive, they couldn't </div><div style="text-align: center;">back out of the agreement! It was too late!!!! (Cue dramatic music)</div><div style="text-align: center;">All superstition aside, many people feel that saving the First Look </div><div style="text-align: center;">for this moment makes the day more special. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">A more modern perspective, however, is that a bride and groom should </div><div style="text-align: center;">schedule time alone together before the ceremony to have their First Look. </div><div style="text-align: center;">Supporters of this idea explain that seeing your loved one before the ceremony: </div><div style="text-align: center;">1. Allows for a more intimate, personal experience with your soon-to-be spouse</div><div style="text-align: center;">2. Soothes the nerves that almost everyone has on such a big day </div><div style="text-align: center;">3. And provides a perfect opportunity for great pictures!</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />

They would be amazing with a shorter dress because of the striking contrast of the white shoe and the big red plastic heart. There is no need to dye your shoes since they come in a variety of different colors to suit your needs! </span></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><br />

</span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Red soles have been all the rage since Christian Louboutin launched his shiny red-lacquered soles. The designer professed that his goal was to make a woman look "sexy, beautiful, and make her legs as long as I can". Any bride who wants glamour from head to toe should definitely check these sparkly Louboutins out. </span></div></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif; margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img height="640" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4100/4818349229_5dcc48db08.jpg" width="633" /></span></div></div><div><div style="text-align: center;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;">Another option for brides who want their bridesmaids dresses to match their shoes shoes is Shoes of Prey. While this is a sweet idea, many brides choose to purchase a new dress for their special day because, well, their mother's dresses are ... <i>old. About twenty years old, to be exact.</i></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_430xN.21007023.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://ny-image3.etsy.com/il_430xN.21007023.jpg" width="640" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">How can you honor your mother while ensuring that you don't look outdated and frumpy on your wedding day? Take a tip from Kelly, one of our recent brides. </div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div style="text-align: center;">Kelly had one of her crafty friends take her mother's old wedding dress and tailor it to a more modern-day style. The dress turned out gorgeous, almost like something out of <i>Vogue</i> magazine -- high neck, short hem, intricate lace, and flirty, ruffly sleeves. Kelly's friend also designed original dresses for the bridesmaids, which featured a short hem and ruffly sleeves, similar to Kelly's mother's dress. The bridesmaids dresses were made in an elegant black satin material and boasted deep V necklines.</div><div style="text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div style="text-align: center;">Here are a few photos we saw on <i><a href="http://austindara.com/site/">Austin and Dara Photography</a>'s </i>facebook page.<br />

Kelly looked absolutely stunning in her mother's dress.<br />
Wearing this dress was very important to Kelly, as her mother passed away a year ago. She explains that she wore it as a way to honor her mother.<br />

Santa Barbara has been blessed with amazing weather year round, but you can't beat the long days and warm nights of summer. Wedding season has arrived and listed below are some of the top summer trends of 2010.</span></span><br />
<div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><b>Weightless fabrics </b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Fabrics that are light as air--like chiffon, tulle, and organza, will feel like a dream for those balmy summer nights. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Monique Lhuillier's latest collection is light and ethereal and picks up on the weightless trend with lace, silk tulle and feathers. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-weight: normal;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1427/4730902233_ac7c309afb.jpg" /></span></span></b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><b>Mother Nature</b></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;">Flowers are almost always a staple for a wedding, and many designers are incorporating flowers into necklines, trains, shoulders, even the whole gown may be adorned with flowers. Christos debuted a youthful collection with thousands of embroidered delicate flowers on tulle gowns. </span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1068/4730990451_1e5ac8b7ae.jpg" width="267" /></span></span><br />
<span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br />
</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small;"><b>Texture</b></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; white-space: pre-wrap;">Interesting textures and fabric mixes will provide a unique spin on the traditional wedding gown. Designers are mixing and matching different fabrics and playing with pleats or layers this season. Vera Wang is a great example of a designer who uses organic shapes and brings textures to a new level.</span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Georgia, 'Times New Roman', serif;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: small; white-space: pre-wrap;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: 12px;"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1097/4731625858_223e0e2b3f.jpg" width="200" /></span></span></span></div><div><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #222222; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: small;"><span class="Apple-style-span" style="font-size: 12px; white-space: pre-wrap;"><br />

The ceremony was in the Mariposa Gardens, a lush Spanish style garden which overlooks the Pacific Ocean as well as the Channel Islands. The reception was in the Marina Room and was designed by <a href="http://www.nicosb.com/">Nico Designs</a>. The newlyweds had a fabulous time dancing the night away with their family and friends. We are so lucky to have had to opportunity to help them make their day special. <br />

<div><br />
</div><div>After a breathtaking experience at the local Tiffany's in Santa Barbara, I got to thinking--how should one go about picking out their dream engagement and wedding rings?<br />
<br />
<center><img height="317" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4643523923_4d16104db5_o.jpg" width="320" /></center> </div><div><br />
</div><div>First, budget should be a main priority. Remember to spend what you are comfortable spending and try not to be blinded by love or a salesperson's pitch. </div><div><br />
</div><div>Second, decide what your style is. Vintage? Modern? Classic? Eclectic? Once you figure that out, do a bit of research on types of ring styles that you are drawn to. A good tip is also to study what jewelry you wear on a daily basis and try to incorporate those styles into the perfect ring for you. </div><div><br />
<br />
<center><img height="299" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4015/4644137708_b8a7e337c6_o.jpg" width="320" /></center></div><div><br />
Third, get familiar with the cut, clarity, and color of diamonds. This information will help you pick out the perfect stone, as these three aspects determine the amount you'll spend. </div><div><br />
<br />
<center><img height="287" src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4018/4643523827_4782d2be92_o.jpg" width="320" /></center></div><div>Happy hunting! </div><div><br />

Her work took my breath away and opened my eyes up to the evocative beauty of lace patterns. For me, these vintage <a href="http://fashionmodel.mtx5.com/category/designers/balenciaga-designers/page/2/">Balenciaga</a> lace dresses really capture that romantic narrative style. I love the idea of incorporating this into a dress idea or photography shoot.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3453424601734634119.post-36176910454863426292010-05-07T18:52:00.001-07:002010-05-07T18:56:43.952-07:00"I Do" it Differently<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje6b8SZUPBd6TbxnNRU-oY9Unr53ov4DrXubd286jycgM7AHSLRt0wL2KZRGRjUqpudFNWfWpNYQWLj-eeg5tu0DTJK9_kQaQu6_NGKxbytC52V54NmrFEsjRU-_t2tdHFQEUe2UFI8WYW/s1600/short+dress.jpg"><img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 282px; height: 400px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEje6b8SZUPBd6TbxnNRU-oY9Unr53ov4DrXubd286jycgM7AHSLRt0wL2KZRGRjUqpudFNWfWpNYQWLj-eeg5tu0DTJK9_kQaQu6_NGKxbytC52V54NmrFEsjRU-_t2tdHFQEUe2UFI8WYW/s400/short+dress.jpg" border="0" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5468711609160315474" /></a>Hot humid weather in NY got me thinking about being comfortable in the heat. What a better way to keep your cool and add a touch of vintage class to your wedding day style than a cute tea or cocktail length dress? Love these.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3453424601734634119.post-38065626434292737742010-04-28T15:15:00.001-07:002010-04-28T19:20:26.756-07:00See it.
