Cymbidium or Cypripedium - WHAT?

Can you tell them apart?  Which is the Cymbidium and which is the Cypripedium?

Cypripedium GreenCymbidium Mini Yellow

Picking out florals for your event can be a difficult task if you don't know what you like, what you don't like, or what's out there for you to choose from.  Even I have a hard time with types and availability of flowers - It's Greek to me.

When attending the ISES Special Event in San Diego one of the floral booths had a GREAT resource.  Check out this website from International Floral Distributors Inc. and go to the "Flower Search" page or "Flower Gallery" link.  Here you can  peruse thru flowers you might like, or even not know about that are in season and match your colors for your event.

Could you guess which was which between the two?

Cypripedium is the first one, and Cymbidium the second one on the stem....

Allie's Big Day!

Last Saturday we celebrated Allie's Bat Mitzvah.  After a year of planning, I experienced the best reward in Event Planning- seeing the event come to fruition.  Here are some photos of the prepping (we made signs for the carnival, Nico Designs getting flowers detailed), and the canopies that LBPS placed inside the Stella Mare's Event Center.

Wednesday we had to make a weather call.  We had rain in the forecast (although we did not experience a drop) and a high of 57 forecasted.  Nicole, from Classic Party Rentals was instrumental in making the 'Carnival Tent' as cozy and enjoyable as a summer's night.

We brought in a palm reader, caricaturist and juggler from AMS Entertainment.
The cotton candy and popcorn machine from Santa Barbara Jumps were a great treat for adults and kids alike.  The balloons (both the arch and inside the center) were a great finishing touch to the themed event brought in by Balloons by Chris.

The night was a big hit with kids entertained by You Should Be Dancing DJ services and a great dining experience.  The finishing touch, a delectable cake from Boris Bakery on Milpas was a sweet ending to a memorable day for Allie, family and friends.

Enjoy the show -

They list things to do, maps, discounts and have a lot of useful tips and information for all.

Unique Local Gift

Clients constantly ask for a unique and local gift or favor for guests of the event.

Here is a great gift given to me by a dear friend of mine - an Aromatherapy Beeswax Candle.  It's made of pure natural beeswax and scented with essential oils and lavender for Mental Clarity (everyone who knows me is glad I have it).

Check out the Rivendell website to find some other reasonably priced, unique, local, organic gifts.
