See it. Be it.

As if I wasn't already in love with ban.do they just came out with their new Black Label collection. The pieces are so intricate and beautiful they remind me of Francesca Gabbiani's Gothic collage pieces. Talk about adding drama and romance!

"I Do" it Differently

I came across this idea of a "day after" photography session and loved the idea. Not only do you get to wear your wedding dress one more time, but you also get to spend the day with your partner without all the wedding day stress. In this couple's case they went out exploring the Jamaican island. They look so blissful and happy! Check out more of their pictures at the photographer's website.

See it. Be it.

Ok so you celebrated big time and are left with shards of broken plates - as promised here are some unique ideas on how to transform them into works of art. Most of these you can find at etsy.com but with a little finesse I say go ahead and try and do it yourself!

A Dash of Culture

Breaking stuff...how often do we really get to do it for the sake of celebration? This week I dug a little deeper into this tradition and found some great reasons to do so! Some is religious custom, as in the groom stamping on a glass wrapped in a cloth or the mothers of the couple smashing plates after the signing of the marriage contract in Jewish weddings. Other is purely cultural practice as in the breaking of plates in Greek society. Either way, the act has symbolic meaning reminding us of the fragility of material objects, life, and relationships, and the irreversible promise of a marriage. Plus, noise is also believed to drive away evil spirits, and who couldn't use some of that good joo joo?! (Just make sure it’s not part of the rentals).

Next week- stay tuned for some artsy ways to use the shards!
